On April 3, Consul General Wang Zhijian held a media briefing to elaborate on the guiding principles of the NPC&CPPCC annual sessions in light of China-Thailand relations and public opinions in southern Thailand, and to explain China's foreign policy. Representatives and journalists from the the Daily News, Manager's Daily, and local media in southern Thailand, attended and provided extensive coverage.
Wang highlighted the main development goals of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, stating that China and Thailand are friendly and close neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, with highly complementary economies and deeply intertwined interests and the Consulate General is willing to strengthen communication and coordination to encourage Thailand to seize the development opportunities of the 15th Five-Year Plan and jointly deepen practical cooperation between China and southern Thailand in areas such as agricultural trade, tourism, connectivity, and poverty alleviation.
Wang emphasized that the Taiwan question is the core of China's core interests, and China appreciates Thailand's firm adherence to the one-China policy. He hoped that media personnel would continue to uphold an objective and impartial stance, enabling more ordinary Thai people to better understand the fact that Taiwan is part of China's territory.
Wang also answered reporters' questions on the situation in Iran and China-US relations.
